Driftline Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 26, 2026

Driftline shows where smoke odor is likely to drift, using your location and the local weather. It has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. We do not collect, store, sell or share your personal information.

Anonymous usage counts

To learn which features people use, Driftline counts visits and taps on a few buttons (such as Cigarette or Cannabis, the forecast slider, moving your dot, recenter, city search and Feet or Meters) using Umami. Umami uses no cookies, doesn't identify you or follow you across apps or websites, and doesn't store your IP address. Driftline never sends your location, the cities you search or anything you type to Umami. The counts include general details like the type of device and browser and the country.

Your location

If you allow it, Driftline reads your phone's location while the app is open. It uses it only to center the map, to fetch the weather for that spot, and to look up nearby buildings and streets. Location is never read in the background. You can turn it off at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Driftline, and type a city or set the weather by hand instead.

Services the app talks to

Driftline has no server of its own. To work, your phone sends requests to these free public services, some directly and some through a small relay on Driftline's website host, Netlify, which passes them on and keeps nothing. Each request includes the map area or approximate coordinates it needs, and, like any internet request, your IP address. These services handle the request under their own privacy policies:

What stays on your phone

Your setting for feet or meters is saved only on your phone. Deleting the app deletes them.

Children

Driftline is for adults 18 and older and is not directed at children. See also the Terms of Use.
